News and challenges in the field of dermatology addressed at an international congress in Chisinau

Professionals in the field of dermatology from Italy, Germany, Romania, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and other countries gathered in Chisinau, at the 6th edition of the National Dermatology Congress with international participation on "Dermatology: News and Challenges". The event was organized on July 4 and 5 by the Dermatovenerology Department of „Nicolae Testemitanu” State University of Medicine and Pharmacy in collaboration with the Society of Dermatology from the Republic of Moldova.
The President of the Congress, Mircea Betiu, head of the Department of Dermatovenerology, mentioned that the event represented a discussion platform for current topics in the fields of dermatology and dermato-cosmetology, sexually transmitted infections, current methods of diagnosis and treatment available in a national and international context, etc. "We want the forum to be characterized by an atmosphere of interactive and scientific dialogue, in which the image of dermatology within the local medical sciences will be clearly defined."
Rector Emil Ceban, vice-president, highlighted the mission of specialists in the field in improving the algorithm of prophylaxis and treatment of patients with dermatovenerological pathologies and their contribution to the development of this service in the country. "A special place in the training of dermatology specialists in the Republic of Moldova belongs to the Department of Dermatovenerology, which contributes to the application of the European curricular framework. In the context of connecting postgraduate training to European rigors, residency in dermatovenerology has been extended to at least three years of study, while resident doctors cover the need for specialists in the city of Chisinau and, partially, in the district centers. The staff of the Department, in addition to the didactic process, is involved in a vast scientific activity, carries out an important volume of clinical activity, provides consultative and methodical support to the entire national dermatological service", specified Emil Ceban.
At the end of the speech, the rector expressed his hope that the transfer of knowledge and good practices between different schools of dermatology would contribute to the advancement of specialized medical care, to the training of highly qualified dermatologists, for the development of specialized medical care.
According to academician Stanislav Groppa, vice-rector for research at Nicolae Testemitanu University, the congress constitutes the peak of evaluation and summarizing activity. "The forum demonstrates the fact that international partnerships are an important pillar of growth, information exchange and preparation of frameworks, remodeling and re-evaluation of research protocols and directions".
In the opinion of the president of the Society of Dermatology from the Republic of Moldova, university professor Gheorghe Muset, who previously led the Department of Dermatovenerology for 21 years, the congress will go down in history through new diagnostic and treatment programs in the field.
Among the topics addressed at the congress are: The importance of Canfield imaging in the early detection of cutaneous melanoma; The major role of the balanced skin microbiome in the care of atopic skin; Antihistamines and control of itching in allergic dermatoses; The complete care routine for acne-prone skin; Regenerative medicine in dermatology, new methods: PRP, exosomes with stem cells, etc.
